The Department of Management Studies, The IIS University, Jaipur, in association with the Training & Placement Cell, The IIS University had organised a Two Day Workshop on ‘Employability Mock Process’ held on 22nd and 23rd February, 2018 for the students of BBA Semester II. There were about 100 students participated in the workshop. The Workshop was chaired by the resource person Ms. Akansha Manchanda, Endeavor Careers, Jaipur. She was felicitated and warmly welcomed with the floral greetings.
The purpose of the Workshop was to provide an opportunity to the students to shape the students’ attitude, aptitude and instill confidence in them.
In this two day Workshop, the following areas have been covered:
1st day: Preparation for Aptitude Test, and
2nd day: Techniques for Group Discussions
On the first day, Ms. Manchanda discussed about how to enhance aptitude and reasoning skills. She discussed various forms of vocabulary including the meaning, origin, pronunciation and usages of words, their synonyms and antonyms, as well as uses of idioms and phrases. In the second half of the session, an Aptitude test was conducted for participant students. The duration of the test was 60 minutes. The test was designed to check three abilities – Quantitative, Verbal and Reasoning.
On the second day, the session started with the announcement of winners’ name of the Aptitude test held on the previous day. It was followed with the practice of Group Discussion among students. There were around ten Group Discussions held in the session. Each group was consists of 8-10 members. The topics of the discussion were related with current scenario such as One Billion Indian: A Sea of Opportunity or Gigantic Problem, Goods and Services Tax (GST): Favour or Against, Women in the Age of Start ups India, etc. Each student from the session actively participated in the Group discussions. After each Group Discussion, Ms. Manchanda gave personal feedback to the students. She talked about the techniques of participation in Group Discussion. At the end, name of the winners of Group Discussions were announced.
Outcome: The workshop was successful in promoting the employability and aptitude skills among students. The sessions were very interactive with the students. It helped the students in promoting knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. The workshop gave an insight on the use of communication skills, leadership skills, effective listening, outer box thinking, use of data and information during Group Discussions among students.
The Workshop was fruitful for the students and faculty members. This was ended with honorarium to the guest and vote of thanks.
